Cruinniu na nOg celebrates and encourages children and young people's participation in culture and creativity through performance, coding, theatre, art and music workshop, readings, screenings, special events and much more. Events are free, local and activity-based. It's a day for 'doing', 'making' and 'creating'!

Away with the Fairies: Musical adventures for little folk based on the W.B. Yeats’ poem The Stolen Child.

Music and Movement Storytime for Children Under 4
Time: 10am | 30-minutes session. Venue: Carrickmacross Library Age: Under 4’s

Parents and guardians are invited to bring your toddlers aged 0-4 to Carrickmacross Library and join in the fun and interactive session with stories, songs, rhymes.

abraKIDabra - Magic Show
Time: 10.30am | 1-hour show. Venue: Carrickmacross Library Age: Suitable for 4+

Joe Daly will bring his creative magic style straight from the RTÉ Jr studio to Carrickmacross Library. His show is packed full of really cool modern magic and mini illusions, all presented with Joe’s unique style of comedy and energy. Joe will take children on a rollercoaster ride throughout the show. They will be rolling around laughing one minute, and completely silent in absolute fascination the next. The show intertwines visual spectacle, theatrics, and Joe’s acting abilities, and utilises music and sound effects that are simply awesome!

Stop Motion Animation Workshop
Time: 12pm | 1-hour workshop. Venue: Carrickmacross Library Age: 8 years +

Did you know that stop motion animation films such as Wallace and Gromit have at least 24 frames per second? Imagine how many frames are in the full movie! Try your hand at some stop motion animation using a simple app, then take what you’ve learned home and see what you can create. You may well be the next Nick Park!

Dabbledoo – An Interactive Music Workshop

As part of Crúinniú na nÓg 2019, LAEP and DabbledooMusic are collaborating with two local schools to bring you a very special celebration event on Saturday June 15th in the Íontas Centre. Visuals and backing tracks will guide par¬ticipants through a host of musical scores and instruments will be provided to everyone in the audience. Don’t worry though, you don’t need any musical experience or knowledge, just leave it to us to guide you through the music!

Unicorns and Dragons Creative Craft Workshop

Crafty creators will gather in Clones Library to celebrate Crinniú na nÓg 2019. Come join us with The Craft Cabin, who will take children through an interactive craft workshop, from making all sorts of unicorns that sparkle and glitter to dragons who are fierce and bitter. Every child will create a unique item to take home with them on the day.

Write a book celebration in conjunction with Monaghan Education Centre.

Children of Lír and Irish Legends Inspired Fabric Printing Workshop
Time: 10am | 2 ½ hour workshop. Venue: Monaghan Library Age: 7 years +

Children aged 7+ are invited to this workshop to design and create their own t-shirt or bag whilst learning about Irish legends. Children will learn to make their own unique stencils and stamps, using fabric paint to create their very own individual design.

Graffiti Art Workshop

Learn the art of 3D graffiti as local art tutor Samantha Hawe guides you to create your very own masterpiece! Design, colour, shade, and highlight your way to some awesome wall art.

Flash Mob Dance – ‘Positive Relationships’

A group of young people aged 12-18 from across County Monaghan have been working with a choreographer to learn and create a flash mob-style dance in keeping with Comhairle na nÓg 2019’s Developing Positive Relationships theme, with a focus on shaping healthy relationships in a modern world.

Snake in the Class - Short Film

A group of young people started a journey last October in the creative skills around film making. Funded under the Monaghan Creative Programme, ‘Snake in the Class’ is the product of their work.
Snake in Class follows the journey of new student Luke and the difficulties he faces in his new school. But making life more challenging is another addition to the school .... of the cold blooded variety!!!

Lir Project - Interactive Music Workshop
Time: 6pm. Venue: Garage Theatre, Monaghan Age: 12+ Booking Details: No booking required.
Showcase and Workshop. Exploring the voice with body percussion through symbology of water in Irish Myth. Catch a glimpse at the work in progress and join in a short vocal workshop. We are still recruiting for our big performance in October.

Variations Play

Monaghan Youth Theatre will perform Variations by Katie Hims in the Garage Theatre.
Thirteen-year-old Alice wishes her life was completely different. She wakes up one morning to find that her life is different. In fact, it’s so different that all she wants to do is get back to normality. But how does she do that? This is a play about family, string theory, and breakfast.
The play is perfect for young (12+) and older audiences.

This nationwide event is a national day celebrating youthful creativity supported by the Creative Ireland Programme. It's a day for doing, making and creating.
